Boygenius: The Tour

Boygenius: The Tour performed at the Mann in Philadelphia on September 30, 2023. Boygenius is an indie band made up of solo singers Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker. At the time of the concert, Bridgers, Dacus, and Baker had released two EPs as a band, as well as having their own very successful careers.
The juxtaposition between Boygenius’ opening song and the rest of their set is very humorous. Boygenius begins their concert by walking out to “The Boys Are Back in Town” by Thin Lizzy. The songs following are very beautiful, but also very melancholy. This tour focused mainly on their EP The Record, with hit songs “Not Strong Enough” and “Emily I’m Sorry.” Surprisingly, they also played many songs from their self-titled EP. Each member even got to sing a solo song from their careers as musicians. Bridgers even played “Graceland Too” off of her album Punisher, a song about fellow bandmate, Julien Baker. This concert was very entertaining to watch and their vocals were euphonious.
