Recap of Villanova Men’s Lacrosse Dominant 14-7 Win Over Brown

Written by on March 20, 2024

On Tuesday night in Annapolis, Maryland, the Villanova Wildcats beat the Navy Midshipmen, 14-7, from an all-around dominant performance from the start to the end of the game. The Wildcats did not trail once throughout the whole game.

Villanova’s Colin Michener scored a goal within the first couple minutes of the game, but Navy responded with a goal and tied the game. Villanova then scored three straight goals to build on their momentum from early in the game, and they found themselves up with a considerable lead halfway through the second quarter.

Navy still tried to comeback, shortening the Wildcats lead with nearly 10 minutes left of the second quarter by scoring a goal, but then Villanova came firing. The Wildcats went on a 7-0 scoring run, something uncommon in today’s game, and stopped Navy from having any grade-A chances.

Matt Licata, Thomas McIntire, Colin Michener, and Nicholas Luchessi all contributed more than two goals apiece or more in Villanova’s win. Licata and Michener most notably led the Wildcats with 5 points apiece. Goalie Anthony Wilson played strong in net, recording 15 saves, a season-high for him, and also amassed a .682 save percentage.

Villanova will play next on March 25th vs. Brown in Providence. They look to find a win as they start their Conference play in a couple of weeks.
