Villanova Dominates St. John’s After a Commanding Second Quarter

On Saturday afternoon, the Villanova Wildcats beat St. John’s, 14-9, in a dominating second quarter. The Wildcats are now 7-5 overall and 1-2 in the Big East, and St. John’s is now 4-9 overall and 1-2 in the Big East.

Early in the quarter, St. John’s started with a 2-1 lead, with a goal from Thomas McIntire for the Wildcats. Then, Villanova scored another three goals from McIntire and Mason Reale to take the lead over St. John’s. St. John’s then scored a goal, but the Wildcats went on a heater and scored four straight goals to end the half with an 8-3 lead.

Villanova’s Lucas Raymond scored the first goal of the second half, and then Lucas Newton added another goal to push Villanova up to an even greater lead, 12 -5. The rest of the quarter was back-and-forth action, but Villanova was able to maintain its lead and win the game 14-9.

Reale led the Wildcats with three goals and an assist, and Jake Wright led St. John’s with three goals.

Villanova will play Marquette next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Milwaukee.
