In the first quarter, Villanova came out firing on all cylinders. They went on a 12-2 scoring run. Creighton then scored 17-6, but Villanova returned and scored eight straight points to go into the second quarter with a 23-10 lead. Most notably, the Wildcats were 5 of 7 from the three-point line, and Creighton was 0 for 5. Villanova was able to hit their shots from behind the arc.

Morgan Maly from the Bluejays was a massive contributor to that run with 7 points. With around 1 minute left of the quarter, Creighton used their momentum to gain the lead, 33-31, off a shot from Lauren Jensen. But Creighton couldn’t maintain the lead due to a last-minute lay-up from Villanova’s Christina Dalce, which tied up the game, 33-33, going into the half.

In the third quarter, Creighton kept the Wildcats from scoring, and they went on a 12-6 scoring run to widen their lead to 54-45. The key to the quarter was Villanova’s turnovers, where they turned over the ball five times from the pressure of the Bluejays.

In the fourth quarter, Creighton went on a 10-3 scoring run to widen their lead to 64-48, with Emma Ronsiek taking charge. Creighton dominated and controlled play for much of the rest of the quarter, leading the Bluejays to win with a score of 69-59.
