Villanova Wins Against New Hampshire

No. 13 Villanova claimed a 14-6 win over New Hampshire on Homecoming Weekend with a crucial 99-yard drive and a dominant defensive performance. The Wildcats, scoring their only touchdowns via passes from sixth-year quarterback Connor Watkins to Lucas Kopecky and Devin Smith, overcame a scoreless stretch of over 33 minutes, highlighted by two goal-line stands. Senior linebacker Shane Hartzell posted a career-high 20 tackles, while Brendan Bell had a career-best 4.5 tackles for loss, leading Villanova’s defense in holding New Hampshire to two field goals. Watkins threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns, with critical runs by himself and Ja’briel Mace on the 99-yard drive that sealed the game. Freshman David Avit led with 59 rushing yards, and Kopecky continued his streak of receptions in each of his five games this season. Villanova’s fourth consecutive Homecoming win and its 13th straight home victory extended their historic success, with the team heading to Hampton next for a 1 p.m. game on Nov. 2.
