Inspiring Careers in Nursing

The Villanova University Fitzpatrick College of Nursing, WXV&U Health, and WXVU are proud to present Inspiring Careers in Nursing, the podcast where we hear from Villanova Nursing Alumni about the different career paths they have taken to inform and inspire listeners. 

In this episode, Nicole Blanche Guerin interviewed Julia Lanouette. Julia has over 12 years’ experience in the biopharmaceutical industry in addition to 5 years of nursing experience in acute care and home care.  Prior to entering the health care arena, Julia worked in the Risk Management and Technology sectors. Currently, she is the Director of Pharmacovigilance Operations with Moderna Therapeutics, Boston, Mass.  In this current role, Julia sets the strategy for developing and writing the global pharmacovigilance and manages relationships with Moderna’s business partners to ensure the secure exchange of safety data for clinical trials and post-marketing products.  Previously, Julia held various positions at Merck & Co. in Business Development, Pharmacovigilance Licensing, Regulatory Affairs, International and Clinical Safety and Risk Management.

 

In this episode, Maryalice Morro interviewed Nicole Blanche Guerin. Nicole has over twenty-five years’ experience in insurance and reinsurance  (Insurance for insurance companies) and over ten years of Critical Care nursing experience. She has served as an officer in multiple organizations including multiline carriers, an international reinsurance broker, a startup Referenced Based Pricing (RBP) medical cost containment company and a multi-line reinsurer. Nicole has successfully executed various roles with progressive responsibilities across multiple product lines, including roles as in- house counsel, from Associate General Counsel to GC, Operations/COO, claims management, managed care contracting, reinsurance treaty negotiation and drafting, commutation negotiations and alternative dispute resolution management. Products lines experienced include workers compensation, general liability, property, disability, life, accident, and health, and excess of loss and stop loss reinsurance. She has managed teams across the United States and Canada and in various locations in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe.

 

In this episode, Nicole Blanche Guerin interviewed John Ervin. John is a doctoral candidate in strategic leadership with an emphasis in idealized design strategic consulting and systems thinking. His doctoral thesis research focuses on innovations in the cannabis and industrial hemp industry. As an experienced healthcare entrepreneur, his success has been augmented through experiences including the airline industry, the Department of Homeland Security, insurance and financial services, and the medical device industry.

 

In this episode, Maryalice Morro interviewed Tyonne Hinson. As Director of Nursing Diversity Initiatives and the Nursing Career Lattice Program at Boston Children’s Hospital, Dr. Hinson leads and directs enterprise level initiatives to strengthen the recruitment, retention, advancement and inclusion of all members of the nursing workforce as a platform to promote health equity and reduce child health disparities. She also contributes to a broad range of nursing and patient care-focused diversity, inclusion, and health equity activities.

 

In this episode, Nicole Blanche Guerin interviewed Jamie O’Day. Refusing to take the traditional nursing path by starting in General Medicine, Jamie fought hard to find a job that fulfilled her passion of working with expecting mothers in Labor & Delivery, where she met ⁠NAPS⁠ co-founder Emily Silver.
