A new pop-up outdoor ice skating rink is set to open Tuesday night in Delaware County. Delco River Rink will have a ribbon cutting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday along the Chester Waterfront at 777 Harrah’s Boulevard in Chester. Delaware County Council, Flight Entertainment, Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack, and local elected officials will participate in the ribbon cutting. The rink will officially open to the public Dec. 1 and run through Feb. 26. Guests will find a full-sized recreational outdoor skating rink under a pavilion, food and drink, festive music, lighting, video and decor, and a heated indoor Ice Garden Bar & Event Space available for corporate and private rentals. The rink will also host special community days and family friendly events while it’s open.
In other news, the community is invited to the Wayne Business Association’s annual tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in downtown Wayne. The festivities include carriage rides, crafts, carolers and, topped off with the arrival of Santa. On Saturday, Dec. 3, the community members are invited to Radnor Memorial Library’s annual Shelves for Elves Fun Run and 5K beginning at 8 a.m. at the library on West Wayne Avenue. Registration is availale at 7 a.m. in the library’s Windsor Room.
