WXVU Wins IBS Award for Best Public Affairs Program!

The 2022-2023 IBS (Intercollegiate Broadcast System) Conference was held February 24-25 in New York City. WXVU’s Chris Cokinos and Allison Bajada, along with Deena Leh, Dr. Carol Weingarten, and Nick Langan represented the station in attendance. The winners of this year’s IBS awards were announced at the end of the conference, and WXVU took home an award! WXVU won Best Public Affairs Program, for Ring the Alarm – Human Trafficking, hosted by Alex Hudson as part of the WXV&U Health partnership with the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing (Read more from the College of Nursing website). WXVU received 5 nominations in all:
- Best College/University Radio Station
- Best News Interview (WXVU’s Chris Cokinos interviewing Kaleigh Brendle)
- Best Public Affairs Program (Ring the Alarm – Human Trafficking, hosted by Alex Hudson)
- Best Live Music Broadcast (Our September 28 broadcast from the Mullen Center, featuring Brazilian Jazz from the group Minas)
- Best Station ID (Our station’s legal ID, recorded by our station manager Allison Bajada)
It was a great weekend had by all!
