CHICAGO–In its final game of 2025, Villanova continued its dominance against DePaul at Wintrust Arena, winning its ninth straight game against the Blue Demons.
Villanova (11-2, 4-0 Big East) defeated DePaul (3-12, 0-4 BE), 81-48, on Monday night to win its ninth consecutive game overall. The Wildcats started the game with 13 unanswered points, including six from Jasmine Bascoe. Villanova pushed its lead to 23 points at halftime, leading the Blue Demons, 42-19. Kelsey Joens added seven points in the third quarter, and the Wildcats easily pulled away from the Blue Demons.
The Wildcats’ leading scorer, Jasmine Bascoe, suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter while contesting a shot underneath the basket. She was eventually helped back to the bench by Villanova’s medical staff but ultimately did not play the rest of the contest.
Brynn McCurry led the Wildcats with 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting. She also accumulated seven defensive rebounds.
“It was a great game,” McCurry said in a postgame interview on ESPN+. “Good team win. We knew we had to come out here and really execute, and I think we did just that. Obviously, with Jas [Jasmine Bascoe] getting hurt there in the beginning, it’s always scary, but I think everyone on the team really stepped up and continued to execute the game plan.”
Kelsey Joens scored her most points as a Wildcat with 14 against DePaul, including two threes. She was just three points away from tying her career high in points. Kennedy Henry and Ryanne Allen also combined for 21 points. The Wildcats converted 50% of their field-goal attempts in the victory.
DePaul’s offense struggled from behind the arc on Monday evening. The Blue Demons were 0-for-16 from three-point range. They also only converted 27% of their field-goal attempts. Kate Novik led DePaul with 14 points and six rebounds in 30 minutes. Gina Davorija was 4-for-8 from the field with 10 points and three steals.
The Wildcats finished the game with 22 assists, eight steals, and five blocks against DePaul. They also won the rebounding battle, 40-34.
Some good news for Villanova was that Kylee Watson played in her first game since November 12. Watson, a transfer from Notre Dame, scored five points with six rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench.
Villanova will return home to the Finneran Pavilion to play Creighton (6-7, 2-2 BE) on January 1. Tipoff is scheduled for noon. Fans can listen to the game on WXVU, beginning at 11:30 AM with the Roar Pregame Show. The game can also be watched on ESPN+ with a subscription.
